Join Suniti for the fourth annual weekend retreat at Liminalia.
In Body as Earth we engage in practice with community on beautiful land. Through movement, meditation, and discussion we experiment with listening for connections between inside and outside. We bring our bodies close to the ground, near the water, into the wind and next to the trees. We bring forward the sensuous body reminding us that we are in a constant process of exchange.
We enter a community research project, a creative process that exists in the body and is in collaboration with the land. When we dance, we dance together with Rock Creek, an ancient cedar, and the seen and unseen bodies all intertwined and incomplete
When we sit in meditation, we play with stopping, pausing, and listening for the forgotten song of the heart, blood, skin, and bones. What is my heart saying that I have not yet heard?
Touching and honoring a body that is of the elements, we melt into another way of experiencing time.
Liminalia is situated in Vernonia, Oregon. Here you are invited to swim in Rock Creek, sit in an ancient cedar, rest on a grassy island, walk in a moist forest, sit by an evening camp fire, enjoy the sauna, steam room and swing. There is a main house and yoga studio, a barn, 6 cabins for sleeping and resting in and plenty of camping spots.
The land we gather on was once home to the Chinook, Clatskanie and many other indigenous peoples. We touch our capacity to simultaneously hold the grief of what has been lost and open to the blessings of this place.
