Relationship Made Visible
In this workshop, we engage in spontaneous, emergent play. We gather to explore contact within and beyond a physical movement form. Honing and practicing the skill of moving together is not only fun, it’s a way to make relating more visible.
This workshop includes physical touch!
What happens at the precipice of contact?
What are the origins of your impulses, and what happens when we get out of their way?
What is here for you in the space of moving toward and away from other bodies?
The form we’ll use to engage this study is open, improvisational, collaborative movement.
This may look like familiar images of partnered dance you’ve seen or practiced, or it may look like a formless compilation of moving together through space. The attention is on what emerges from inside ourselves and how that translates to influencing one another’s state and movement.
Contact improv, social partner dance and other forms of partnered movement experience are a welcome bonus but not necessary to participate.
Wear comfortable clothing to move in.
